Chapter 31
Delta
Dinner went well. I insist on sending the leftovers home with Maman for the boys. She insists on taking Lila for a sleepover. Iâm nervous, but I know my girl is in excellent hands. Outlaw is cleaning up in the kitchen. I took a quick shower to wash the day's grime off. Now Iâm deciding what to wear. Should I put on my usual pajamas, some sexy lingerie that Maman insisted I buy, or Outlawâs t-shirt.
Donning one of his t-shirts and a pair of panties, I head downstairs to find Outlaw waiting for me on the couch. A fire blazing in the fireplace. Two steaming mugs topped with whipped cream sat on the table.
He stood up facing me, watching my every move as I made my way across the living room. The lights were dimmed. Christmas music plays softly in the background. My man has thought of everything for our first night alone together.
I swallow my nerves and meet his gaze. What I see there is hunger. Raw passion. Passion for me. I ignited that fire that burns in his eyes. Thatâs all for me. My heart beats a little faster as he takes the last step to close the distance between us.
He growls, pulling me to him, devouring my mouth in a heated kiss that has my insides melting.
âI fucking love it when you wear my shirt.â
I smile at him. âI love wearing your shirts. They smell like you.â
âCobra is covering for me tonight at the club and he sweet-talked Maddie into cooking for you. I told him to speed along the process of finding someone to replace you. I like the idea of spending my nights buried deep inside my woman.â
Heat rushed to my cheeks. I clenched my thighs at his words. Tonight, weâd finally make love, but first I needed to tell him one last thing. Nothing as monumental as my first big revelation, but still, itâs important.
âThank you.â
âNo need to thank me, love. We deserve some alone time. I made you some Irish hot chocolate.â
âIrish as in spiked.â
He nods his head. I pick up the mug blowing on it before taking a sip. The taste of melted hot chocolate hit my taste bud seconds before the sting of alcohol. It burns, making me cough. Outlaw takes the mug and pats me on the back.
âAre you alright, Angel?â
I nod my head. âStrong.â
My man has the grace to blush. âDésolé mon amour.â
I smile. I love hearing him speak French. Maman and the Broussard brothers all speak a mixture of English and French. A cajun tradition, according to Maman. Lila has even picked up on it.
âWill you teach me French? I think Lila will pick it up talking to the family.â
âIâd love to teach you, mon cÅur. My heart.â
âI love you, Alcide. I didnât think Iâd be happy again after mom died. Not that Iâm not happy with Lila. Iâm always looking over my shoulder, expecting Walter to show up. To take her. To hurt her the way he hurt me.
